Do YOU Pinterest?

Two years ago (gosh was it THAT LONG AGO???) I hosted a Pampered Chef party for my friend Janell. We had so much fun that night…good food, good friends, laughter. At the end of the night Janell showed me this Pinterest thing. I didn’t see the big deal. I mean I remember her going ON and ON about how great it was…”just type something in – like chocolate- and all this great stuff will come up…recipes, projects, you name it.” It looked cool…it did…but not THAT cool. So Janell finished packing her things up, went home and I finished cleaning up from a fun night…then I turned on my computer and accepted the Pinterest invite that Janell had sent to me. I spent the next hour…ok maybe 2…searching, clicking, pinning onto my newly formed boards. I was hooked!  Flash forward to the present:  I’m now the one sending friends invites to Pinterest, Janell is sharing something new with everyone and is loving it, and  I’m still totally addicted to Pinterest and now am trying to figure out how to use it as a social media tool for my business as well (THAT seems to be an elusive tool for me…)  Are YOU a Pinterest addict?  Post below so I can follow you…and click here to follow me!

Do you Pinterest?  I go on to Pinterest less than I used to…and I actually USE what I pin more.  Tonight I’m going to a PInterest party co-hosted by a good friend of mine.  We were asked to bring something yummy to share, found on pinterest obviously.

I’m taking Pumpkin Pesto…I changed the recipe up a little bit.  I used Butternut Squash infused oil in place of 1/2 of the called for olive oil.  I also added cinnamon, nutmeg and a few crushed red pepper flakes.  I would like if it was a bit brighter in color but yum does it tasted good!  I sliced and toasted a multi-grain baguette to use as dippers and will also cut up some celery sticks for a low carb alternative (important for Project Fabulous.)

It was tough to choose what to take…I mean SO MANY choices!  I can’t wait to see what everyone brings to share tonight.  It should be a delicious girls night of fun.  I also can not wait to see what craft/project we will be making…I’ll be sure to post a picture.

What are some of your favorite Pinterest crafts and foods? Have you ever hosted a Pinterest party?  I’m thinking I need to plan my own!  Want to come?

For the Love of Pumpkin

This morning I woke to crisp cool Fall air…less than 60*. There is just something better about fall mornings. I feel more ready to face the day…more focused…more present.

Plus there’s pumpkin coffee…

and pumpkin bread…

and pumpkin pie, and pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin pancakes…need I say more?  Even LoveBug loves pumpkin!  And that is saying a lot!  I probably have about 6 cans of pumpkin in my pantry right now…and soon I plan on buying a few pumpkins to cook down and freeze my own pumpkin.  There are many other reasons I love fall but there’s a special love for pumpkin….don’t you agree?

I’ll be posting my favorite pumpkin recipes later today but right now there is a hot steaming cup of pumpkin spice coffee just BEGGING me to sit on the deck for a few minutes.  Our great dane Laila is going to join me…with a pumpkin peanut butter flax seed filled kong treat.  See – even she knows how great pumpkin is!

Tasty Tuesday: Vanilla Marshmallows

Tuesday’s are one of my busiest days, personally and professionally.  I spend the day cooking up a storm and driving my Bugs.  A typical Tuesday is filled with cooking for clients, delivery to clients, finishing up weekly plan, taking Bug to his Pop’s house, taking LoveBug to dance, deliver to client near dance class, then back to Pop’s house to help LoveBug with homework before heading home for kid’s showers and bedtime.  THEN its dinner with J before client cooking and/or kitchen creations.

My latest kitchen creation was homemade marshmallows.  I’m typically not a huge fan of marshmallows but I have to admit…these are really good!  I was inspired after listening to Living at Home on martha stewart radio.  Which by the way is no longer on Sirius 110?!?!??!?!  I have to go to her website to find out what is going on!  I mean who am I going to listen to when I am in the car now?  The morning show and living at home were my favorites!  I digress….I was inspired while listening to how to make all kinds of marshmallows from the marshmallow maven Shauna Sever.  I made simple vanilla ones but now am itching to buy her cookbook and explore others!  Yummy!  I’ll post a few pics and the recipe tomorrow…right now I need to bake a vanilla pound cake for a client tomorrow.  The kitchen creating doesn’t stop…and I LOVE IT!!!!
